Bio
History of Backlash

It was 2007, Apple introduced the Iphone, Nancy Pelosi became the first female speaker of the house, but more importantly….it was the year Backlash was born!

It all started when Dan McCorkle received a call from longtime friend and drummer, Jim Mills, who was looking to start a new classic rock band. Dan, who was itching to try some fresh material, was on board! Dan then calls Wade Shumaker…and Wade is on board too. Dan and Wade were already members of Second Edition and continued to balance duties in both bands. When trying to come up with a name for the band the guys got a great idea…let the fans pick! They placed jars at all the local clubs and bars and asked folks to give their suggestions…in the end the winner was BACKLASH thanks to Dave Fultz of the Lewistown Moose! Backlash saw great success playing at venues such as the Alexandria Legion, the Huntingdon Moose, Memories Sports Bar and Grill, the Bavarian Club, and the Hitching Post. In 2008, Jim Mills decided he was ready to give playing a break when he and wife Joyce bought a new home. Backlash takes a short break…a VERY short break!

Dan received an email from the Petersburg Tavern in February 2009 wanting to book the band for a show. Dan books the job knowing darn well he does not have a full band! No worries…Wade is back on board and Dan calls longtime friend and former Second Edition drummer, Scott Gardner. Scott is still finishing duties with Nite Life but decides he is ready for a new project as well. Enthusiastic about this new venture, Scott talks to fellow Nite Life guitar player, Adam Jackson and Backlash is now 4 piece and ready to rock some great classic rock and party tunes. With high energy rock and vocal versatility that is rare…Backlash was again making waves in the local music scene. With the addition of the new members, and added versatility, Backlash was able to shift their play list from being primarily classic rock to a wider spectrum of music from the late 70’s through today.

In December 2010, Adam decided he needed to take a break from playing to concentrate on personal issues so the band set out to find a fitting replacement. After placing an ad on Rockpage.net and several auditions, Buck Dickson responded to the ad. A practice was scheduled with Buck, and he proved to be the man for the job! He can play, add vocals, and he is a showman! Big plus for Backlash!

This brings us to where we are today…learning new material even as this bio is being written and hoping to spread our wings even further!
