Bio
Dauntia first came to fruition in the fall of 2007. Ryan "The Whammy" Martin(Guitars and Vocals) and Jon Keilback (Bass) were bored as hell after the breakup of their previous band "Hexen" and decided to put a band together to play some cover songs at Indiana, PA's most famous and best venue "The Cage"

In the first generation of Dauntia, Jon brought in the amazing Rick "The Stick" to play drums and Ryan tapped his horribly talented cousin Chas
"The Wizard" Martin for some killer leads and solid rhythm guitar. We started working on originals after the first show and all realized the magic in those. We recorded some songs but the distance and responsibility of being in a full-time band became too much for some members. Rick dropped out, and Chas could not fit college in with 4 hour drives to western PA.

With Dauntia broken and dismembered Jon and Ryan stayed on the search for driven musicians. After a productive but failed attempt with an amazing young drummer named Dan Yuschick things seemed bleak. Many songs were written during this time, but no full band that could play them existed yet.

Enter the BOTTLES. Through a mutual friend Bottles (Dan Ellwood) and Ryan met each other in February of 2009. After many jam sessions it was very clear that Bottles held a level of lead guitar technical proficiency over Ryan and it was just what the band was missing. Every guitar niche was filled.

Bottles became a member of the band as he learned the already written material and we searched for the hardest thing for any METAL band to find, a solid drummer.

Enter the THRASH. Dauntia started an advertising campaign to find a drummer. A random call came from Logan Mesick. He had moved here from California with his girlfriend and found a flyer that no member of Dauntia had put up. We've always had fans in our corner trying to help us and we thank everyone who has ever helped. A fan had seen one of our flyers, copied it and posted it elsewhere.

Ryan, Bottles, and Jon auditioned Logan in October of 2009 and from the first song we played together it was clear that he was the drummer Dauntia had been waiting for..

With a complete band we right away won a Battle of the Bands and had a radio interview. Momentum on our side led us to start recording our own demo. Throughout the course of recording and summer 2010 shows, Jon decided to leave the band. Ryan, Bottles, and Logan played their last commitment as a three piece with "The Wizard" as special Bass guest for certain songs, because they never leave anyone hanging. The band regrouped in the sudden loss and finished the recording of their 3 song demo with Ryan filling in the bass parts.

At the moment the band was starting to search for a new Bass player. Ryan received an email from a fan telling him to check out Greg Gunder. Dauntia practiced with Greg multiple times, he flawlessly learned the originals and played great at his real audition, a Battle of the Bands that he was informed about a week ahead of time. Dauntia won. TBC.....

Music

Dauntia's music stands on its own as a dedicated mixture of all of the band members influences. The songs have been compared to a Kill'em All era Metallica mixed with the twin guitar attack of ferocious solos and Harmonies much like Iron Maiden.
